Double Hulled Sailing Waka

We used objects around the classroom to create a double hulled sailing waka like the kind that the first Maori may have used to come to New Zealand. We are going to look at waka in Auckland Museum to see how to complete it. This website will also be helpful

Spelling

Here are our spelling words for the week. We are learning strategies to help us spell such as
* listening to the beginning sound
* listening to rhymes / end sounds
* looking at the word
* writing the word
It is fun writing the words on Wordle

Insects

We studied insects and researched the plants that attract butterflies to our gardens. Look at the Yellow Admiral butterfly that came to Mrs Lieftinck's garden in the holidays. What kind of plants do you think it likes? Why?

Grasshopper Tennis

We enjoyed our tennis lessons with Mr Brindle very much. We learned how to bounce, balance, catch and hit the ball.

Look at our visitor

This baby sparrow came into our classroom, and hopped around and on the children. It only flew away when the camera flashed.
